With Christmas being right around the corner and myself having 1,658 cookie cutters, I love this cookie recipe for all seasons, this is the one recipe I make for Christmas, Thanksgiving, Valentines Day, Easter....and whatever else you can think of. Who doesn't love cut out cookies to get you in the holiday spirit. Its simple to throw together, I do mine the night before stick it in the refrigerator and pull it out the next day. The cookies are fantastic, it's an old family recipe so you know it has to be good!

2 cups sugar 1 1/2 cups butter 5 cups flour 1 cup buttermilk 3 eggs 1 tsp salt 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp baking powder 2 tsp vanilla extract cream sugar, butter, eggs, and vanilla. Add the soda, salt, and baking powder. Mix well. Add flour 1 cup at a time. Then add the buttermilk slowly while mixing. Refrigerate overnight. When you are ready to start cutting out cookies bring the dough out for about 10 to 15 minutes to soften it up a bit. Roll the dough to about 1/4 in, use flour for the surface and cut out cookies. Bake at 350 degrees for 9 to 11 minutes. Let the cookies cool and frost with your favorite frosting.
