This sheet cake is gooood! Much like my Texas Sheet Cake this has become my fall version of that cake. With apples coming in season, the cool air on its way, and September right around the corner, this is the ultimate dessert. What goes better with caramel then apples. This brings me all the feel goods of my favorite season.
For the cake:
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup sugar
1 cup light brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
2 sticks of butter
1 cup water
1/2 buttermilk
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups of peeled and chopped granny smith apples
In a large bowl combine all the dry ingredients. Set aside.
In a medium saucepan add butter and water. On medium heat melt the butter. Once bubbling turn off the heat.

Add the buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla. Stir until combined.
Add the butter mixture to the dry ingredients, mix until smooth. Fold in the apples.

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Butter a jelly roll pan and pour the cake mixture in, and bake for 20 minutes.
For the glaze:
1 stick of butter
1/4 cup of milk
3 cups powdered sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup salted caramel sauce
In a sauce pan add butter and milk, on medium heat melt the butter. Once melted take off the heat.
Mix in the powdered sugar, vanilla, and salted caramel sauce.
While the cake is still warm pour the glaze over the cake. Let it set about 15 minutes and serve.
