A perfect meal for any night of the week. It's always a win with this combo. I have also added some fresh steamed green beans to this dish. The colors make this dish even more delicious. Add this to your weeknight meals, your family will love you for it.
For the steak:
1 lb ground hamburger
1 egg
6 crushed saltine crackers
1 tbs ketchup
1 tbs Worcestershire sauce
Salt and Pepper
Combine all the above ingredients. Mix with your hands to get everything incorporated evenly. Divide into 4 even parts and shape into an oval. Place them in a casserole pan and bake at 425 degrees for 30 to 45 minutes until done.
For the gravy:
1 small onion sliced
3 cloves diced garlic
1 package fresh button mushrooms
3 tbs butter
1 can brown gravy
1 package au jus mix
Dash of Worcestershire sauce
Add the butter to a sauce pan, sautée onion, garlic, and mushrooms until cooked through and tender. Transfer to a bowl. In the same pan add gravy, au jus mix, and Worcestershire sauce, bring to a boil and simmer about 5 minutes. Add onion mixture back into the pan and simmer a couple more minutes.
Serve the steaks with the gravy poured over the top. I also added some fresh steamed green beans to the dish.
