I can't wait to dig into this creamy chocolaty pie. This recipe comes from my grandma, it's your good old fashioned chocolate pie. These are the desserts that make you all cozy inside. It's simple and elegant just the way it is. No need to fancy this pie up.
1 pre baked pie crust
1 cup sugar
2 heaping tbs cocoa powder
3 cups milk
3 egg yolks
3 tbs cornstarch
1 tsp vanilla extract
Combine the sugar, cocoa powder, and cornstarch in a medium sized pot. mix them together so everything is incorporated. Pour in the milk and over medium heat stiring constantly wait for the mixture to thicken. Be patient it may take 5 minutes or so. Once its noticeably thicker add 2 spoon fulls of the chocolate mixture into the egg yolks and stir it around. This way you will not scramble the eggs. Once it's mixed add eggs to the rest of the mixture. continue stiring and heating for about 2 minutes. Pour the chocolate into a baked pie crust and refrigerate the pie for at least 4 hours so it can set up. Enjoy this deliciousness.
