Sweetheart Mini Pies

These cute little pies are just in time for Valentine's Day. It's such a cute easy way to add a little fun to the day. My kids had a lot of fun with this idea and really thought these handheld pies were perfect for their little hands.
First thing we need some pie crust. I used a premade pack of pie crust and unrolled it on the counter. Find a heart shaped cookie cutter and cut out the hearts. Then I put a spoon full of my homemade strawberry jam. The sky's the limit for what you decide to fill your pies with. Strawberry is just what I had on hand.
Next place another heart on top of the jam and use a fork to press the pieces together. Then brush the top with a little egg wash (an egg beat well) and sprinkle the top with sugar, it adds a nice sweet crust to the top.
Now pop those cute little pies in the oven at 350 and bake for 15 to 20 minutes. Until they are golden brown. Have fun with them, theres so many ways you can go with these, I just love them.
